Frequently Asked Questions

What is book coaching?

Book coaching is the assistance you need to be clear on your goals, your project and your plan for completion. If you only have a story idea, I can help you flesh it out and make a plan for writing forward. If you are in the midst of your first draft (or your fifth!) and it’s just not holding together, I can help you figure out why. Whether you need accountability, a cheerleader or a task master, I can support you.

What genres do you work in?

I work with authors writing character-driven fiction for adults, YA and middle grade readers, including contemporary fiction, historical fiction, women’s fiction and light fantasy.

Why do I need to schedule a discovery call?

Everybody has their own working style and preferences, and our discovery call is a chance for us to determine if you and I will be a good fit for each other. I want you to get the most out of your investment and coaching experience, and sometimes that means I need to acknowledge that we wouldn’t be a good match.

Can you guarantee that I’ll get an agent/a book deal/on the New York Times bestseller list?

I do not make any guarantees, and I would be very skeptical of anyone who does. The fact is there are many great stories that get published, but many more that never do. Timing, luck, the fickle marketplace, and hundreds of other variables can prevent your book from being traditionally published. I can’t control any of those things. What I can do is help you to create your best work!

Do you offer proof reading or ghost writing services?

No, I don’t offer those services at this time.
